Donations
While fundraising is not the main focus of the Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary, it’s something that we work on and it supports our volunteer efforts and the equipment needs of the hospital. We don’t have an employee taking care of fundraising for us, in fact we don’t have any employees, we’re totally a volunteer enterprise.
Our fundraising portfolio is comprised of multiple activities including a Christmas Bazaar and a Musical Evening. We also sell tear off tickets through our HELPP Lottery at the hospital. And we operate three retail endeavours, the Opportunity Shop on Pinnacle Street, the Aroma Café on Sills 2 and the Tuck and Gift Shops on Hastings 3.
We count on proceeds from these outlets and events to support our programs which include purchasing personal hygiene and clothing items for patients who come to the hospital with nothing as well as purchasing puzzles, reading material and other items for folks in rehab or behavioural transition programs. And we purchase small equipment for the hospital that wouldn’t otherwise be funded including patient comforts.
The Auxiliary is a not-for-profit charitable organization, which means we can issue tax receipts for all donations over $20. We accept donations at the office, on line at www.bellevillehospitalvolunteers.ca or through our special events. No donation is too small and every dollar counts.
